Alumni Accomplishments

September 2009
St. Ambrose students continue to do very well academically, spiritually, athletically and socially at Marquette Catholic High School.

The 2009-2010 school year is in full swing with 260 students in attendance.
There were 16 students in last year’s 8th grade and 13 came to Marquette.
Sam Becker, Trevor Carpunky, Austin Gentry, Rebecca Griffon, Erin Hanson, Michael Hoefert, Nick Korte, Jack Miller, John Piper, Angela Presto, Nick Schranck, Taylor Simon,and Chris Wittich.are all in the Marquette freshman class.

The senior homecoming court was announced and 7 out of the 14 candidates are from St. Ambrose grade school:
Danny Crutcher, Patrick Crutcher, and Phillip Schranck are up for Homecoming King and Katie Hayes, Jessica Hoefert,Stephanie Roberts and Amy Wuellner are up for homecoming Queen. The homecoming dance will be held September 26 at 8:00 in the gym. The crowning of the king and queen will at 10:30pm and all are welcome.
The homecoming football game is on Friday September 25 at Public school stadium.

St.Ambrose alums continue to shine on the Marquette athletic teams. 
Clay Diskin ,Jack Miller, and John Piper are playing football for the Explorers. Sam Becker, Chris Wittich and ,Danny Selby are playing golf. Danny Crutcher, Patrick Crutcher, Nick Repking, Chris Wickenhauser, Adam Wuellner, Phillip Schranck, Alex Zimmerman, Nick Korte, Michael Hoefert and Nick Schranck are playing soccer. Girls tennis has Katie Hayes and Stephanie Roberts on the team. Volleyball is played by Kathryn Ridolfi, Kimberly Hoefert, Mallory Vest, Meghan Korte, Taylor Simon, Erin Hanson and Rebecca Griffon.

The 2009-2010 Student Council consists of many St. Ambrose alums. John Hoefert is the President, Katie Hayes is the Vice-President and Stephanie Roberts is the Senior Class President.

Marquette is performing Everything I Need to Know I learned in Kindergarten on November 6 and 7 in the school gymnasium. Phillip Schranck and Brian Tomerlin will represent St. Ambrose in this Fall Play.

Senior Brian Tomerlin has taken on the roll of “ Captain Marquette” this year. He was presented at the first pep rally of the year and came out in full force at the first two home football games. Brian is very active at Marquette and personifies school spirit as “Captain Marquette” with his high energy and enthusiasm.  His costume alone is enough to make people come and see him.

Congratulations
Jack Miller (8th Grade) placed in the top ten percent on the Marquette Catholic High School
placement test given in January 2009 to incoming freshman students. Jack also finished 4th out of 42 participants at the Knights of Columbus State Spelling Bee competition.

St. Ambrose graduates earn many great successes at Marquette Catholic High School

1.5 million dollars in college scholarships were awarded to Marquette Catholic High School students during the 2004-2005 school year.

Of the 84 seniors who graduated in 2005, 34 were St. Ambrose alumni.

St. Ambrose Alumni are attending many well-known schools, such as:
Indiana University
University of Illinois
Loyola
University of Kansas
SIU Carbondale
…and many others

2005-2006 Marquette student population statistics:

  • 74 students in the senior class / 28 from St. Ambrose
  • 74 students in the junior class / 26 from St. Ambrose
  • 66 students in the sophomore class / 27 from St. Ambrose
  • 72 students in the freshman class / 26 from St. Ambrose

2005-2006 Marquette student academic statistics:

  • 15 students on High Honor Roll / 11 from St. Ambrose
  • 36 students on Honor Roll / 11 from St. Ambrose

For the 2005-2006 school year leaders:

  • The President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Student Council were all St. Ambrose graduates.
  • The senior class President, and Vice President, were St. Ambrose graduates.
  • The junior class President, sophomore class President and Secretary were also from St. Ambrose.
  • 2/7 senior class reps are St. Ambrose graduates
  • 5/6 junior class reps are St. Ambrose graduates
  • 6/7 sophomore class reps are St. Ambrose graduates
  • 6/7 freshman class reps are St. Ambrose graduates

Athletics:

  • 8/11 St. Ambrose graduates on the varsity basketball team – 5 of which were starters
  • Over half the varsity football and soccer teams were from St. Ambrose
  • 8/14 girls on the pom squad are St. Ambrose graduates, as well as 7/10 girls on the cheerleading squad.
