Testimonials

Our daughter started with the 3rd grade class this year at St. Ambrose School. The staff and parents of St. Ambrose have been extremely friendly and accommodating. We feel that everyone has gone out of their way to make us feel welcome. We have been very satisfied with the academics and activities provided by the school and pleased with the education our child is receiving. We love the family atmosphere and the values taught. We have been very blessed by our experience at St. Ambrose.  - Jon & Kim Davis

If there is one Catholic school in the Alton area that I could say has the best technology program, it would be St. Ambrose Grade School. I attended this school for nine years of my life and every year I learned more and acquired more technological skills. From learning how to type to knowing how to make a webpage, the talents I achieved in those nine years have lead me to be able to do numerous things in my high school career. When I had to do a PowerPoint project in my freshman year, I though back to the class I had on the PowerPoint program at St. Ambrose. Not only did I get a 100% on the assignment, I was given extra points for how my PowerPoint was arranged and how well I knew my topic. Also, because of my excellent computer skills and how I knew how to design a web page, I was accepted on the yearbook staff and in my junior and senior years I will be able to be the design editor of the yearbook.

Another outstanding program St. Ambrose has their eighth graders do is the PCWET (Piasa Creek Water Testing) program. Three times a year, the eighth grade goes out to Piasa Creek to test the water for the county. Mrs. Judy Thompson and Mrs. Janet Davenport were in charge of the programe during the year I participated. I was on the camera team, and because of St. Ambrose's dedication to providing their students with all the possible materials, I was able to have three digital cameras and a camcorder to document what the other students did. Through this program, I learned that science can be fun. By watching all my peers work together and the happy faces they had while doign it, I noticed that PCWET was something we all looked forward to every couple of months. It was a great opportunity to get out of the classroom environment and learn in a more fun and exciting way.

I attended St. Ambrose School from 1998-2007. In those years, I learned so much, but what sticks out to me is the technology and PCWet programs that St. Ambrose offers. I can not begin to explain to your the ways I have benefited from these programs. Through grants, St. Ambrose has been able to attain computer hardware that wouldn't have otherwise been possible, making them second to nne. With leading technology and teachers that genuinely excite and inspire learning in students, St. Ambrose has been able to better prepare students for high school.

Through St. Ambrose computer program, I have been taught so many skills. I can type over eighty words a minute, all from the basic typing skills St. Ambrose thought me in forth grade. I also learned various advanced computer and science skills such as PowerPoint presentations and PCWET, building web pages, and more. I owe much of my success in my first year of high school to what I learned in grade school.
